Little Silver ready to go. 21st February
With another dry Sunday, the team at Llittle Silver, venue for the opening round of the 2010 series this coming weekend, have been able to put the final touches to the circuit, paint the post and even the ACU Events Team moved in early to erect a large proportion of the banners.
Despite heavy overnight rain, the hillside track is extremely dry and the fact that it was "sealed" before the rain arrived has made it in prime condition. The gritty, sand based circuit will be left sealed until very late in the week, until the weather forecasters are confident of a dry weekend, in which case it will be ripped and harrowed. If a wet weekend is forecast, it will be left as hardpack. Clerk of the Course, Si Higgins, commented " The whole team have worked well and we are ahead of schedule. The crowd control barriers for the extra spectator area on the hillside will arrive tomorrow and we could race on Tuesday , thats thanks to the help from the team at Little Silver. I am confident of some good racing on Sunday, especially with the quality of the entry in all classes".
The Little Silver circuit offers all round viewing and is situated within sight of Junction 31 of the M5 Motorway near Exeter. Top GP riders include, Zach Osbourne, Tom Church, Stehen Sword, Mattis Karro, Jake Nicholls, Gareth Swanepoel, Evgeny Bobreshev, Graeme Irwin and Pascal Lauret, who will be supported by all the top UK riders.
The first race will commence at 12.15pm, whilst early arrivals can watch the free Practise and Timed Qualifying from 9am at no extra charge.
